CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Loved ones are raising money to support a grandmother who lost her grandson in a southwest Charlotte shooting. Police say 4-year-old Jayce Edwards was in bed around 6:00am last Wednesday morning when a group fired shots into his home while stealing a car. Edwards was shot and killed.
“Words cannot describe the love, light and laughter Jayce Saint Bakari Edwards brought to our lives. His bright eyes, long lashes and warm smile melted the hearts of everyone he met,” Organizer La Shonda Edwards wrote on GoFundMe.
La Shonda Edwards says money raised will help cover relocation expenses, and Jayce’s grandmother as she continues to care for his three other brothers.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police arrested three men who are charged with his murder. Another suspect was arrested in Raleigh and will also face murder charges.
