UNION GROVE, N.C. – A 16-year-old juvenile has been charged with arson in connection to a mobile house fire in Iredell County on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Around 4 p.m., deputies received a call about a suspicious mobile home fire that was destroyed on Butch Branch Road. Firefighters determined that the fire was intentionally set.
After interviewing neighbors and reviewing surveillance footage, detectives identified a suspect, identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, running away from the fire shortly after it began.
The juvenile admitted to starting the fire and was charged with felony first-degree arson, deputies said.
