Viral father and son from Charlotte appear on The Jennifer Hudson Show
The Jennifer Hudson Show airs weekdays at 3 PM on WCCB Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A viral video captured an emotional moment as Amenemhet dropped off his son, Nassor, at Western Carolina University, where he plays Division I football. In the video, Amenemhet gifted Nassor a king chess piece and explained that it symbolized carrying himself like a king, protecting himself, and always remembering that he has a move – even when life feels overwhelming. Nassor’s mom recorded the moment without them realizing and posted it on TikTok, never expecting it to go viral.
Amenemhet Ashenafi and his son, Nassor Ashenafi are from Charlotte and will appear on The Jennifer Hudson Show Thursday at 3 PM on WCCB Charlotte.
Amenemhet hopes the moment shines a light on positive Black fatherhood and encourages fathers to be open, emotional, and vulnerable with their sons. Since the video went viral, countless fathers have reached out to say it inspired them to strengthen their own relationships. Amenemhet explained that this tradition comes not from absence but from legacy. He describes his own father as his hero and wanted to carry forward his example by creating something tangible to pass down. With the king chess piece, he hopes to begin a family heirloom that Nassor can one day share with his children.
