GRANITE FALLS, NC — Deputies arrested 56-year-old Douglas Coffey after he admitted to shooting another man in his home Sunday.
According to officials, the shooting happened at Douglas’s home on Peachtree Place after a fight broke out between himself and 54-year-old Talmadge Coffey. Douglas called deputies to report the shooting, and they found Talmadge with a gunshot wound when they arrived.
Talmadge was airlifted to CMC for treatment, but later died from his injuries.
Douglas Coffey is currently being charged with one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and has been given a $100,000 secured bond.
Investigators say the case is under review by the 25th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and additional charges may be applied.
