Original Story:
CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are investigating a shooting in Ballantyne that sent two teen victims to the hospital Friday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 5:47pm at an apartment complex on Kingston Place Drive. Police say three male teens were sitting in a parked car when two unknown men approached them with guns. Two of the teens were shot trying to run away, according to police, while the third got into a fight with at least one of the suspects and shot him.
Both suspects took off before police could arrive. The two injured teens were transported with non-life threatening injuries.
Around the same time of the shooting, police say a 911 call was placed from a home on Valley Spring Drive, directly behind Kingston Place Drive, saying an unknown male showed up with a gunshot wound, but quickly took off. A K-9 unit responded to search the area, but no suspects were located.
About an hour after the shooting, officials say two men arrived roughly 10 minutes apart at CMC-Main with gunshot wounds. Both were non-life threatening.
Investigators say they are currently working to determine whether either of those two men were connected to the shooting.
CMPD says they still do not know what motivated the initial shooting.
