Police Identify Man Hit And Killed By Light Rail Train In Charlotte

Police have identified the man struck by the light rail train as 60-year-old Laurence Gray.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a light rail train near Clanton Boulevard in Charlotte Saturday night.

The CMPD says the pedestrian walked pass the light rail cross bars near the intersection of Clanton Boulevard and South Boulevard, before he was hit by the train and pinned underneath.

The Charlotte Fire Department extracted him from underneath the train and MEDIC took him to the hospital where he died.

Police say alcohol use is suspected for the victim.

Authorities say there were no injuries reported by light rail passengers.
