CLAREMONT, N.C. — Investigators say the husband of a Hickory police dispatcher in Catawba County has been charged after 65 pounds of marijuana was found inside their home.

Blong Ly Vang is facing numerous felony charges after investigators say they found 65 pounds of high grade marijuana, in various containers including two large plastic storage containers, in the home on Belvedere Drive.  Detectives say they also found a stolen hand gun, digital scales, a vacuum sealer and another weapon during their search.

The street value of the drugs is $130,000.

Vang was charged with trafficking marijuana by possession, possession with the intent to sale and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Investigators have not released the name of Vang’s wife.  However, the Hickory Police Department said the dispatcher no longer is employed at the department and per departmental policy an internal investigation is being conducted.
