Child Killed In Wreck Involving Department of Corrections Vehicle In Albemarle

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Police say a 10-year-old was killed in a wreck in Albemarle.  Investigators say they responded to Anderson Grove Church Road around 3:30pm Tuesday in reference to a three vehicle accident.

Officials say Jimmy Snavely was driving a van for the Department of Corrections when it hit a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Camryn Hamilton.  A third vehicle, a 2002 Mitsubishi Galante, was also involved in the wreck.

The child was a passenger in the Honda Accord and died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.

Police say the investigation is on-going and no charges have been filed at this time.
