GASTONIA, NC – A 13-year-old girl is recovering after being shot in a Gaston County neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the shooting happened at a house on Bryant Street in Gastonia, right off Linwood Road around 4:45 p.m.
When officers got to the house, they found the 13-year-old girl shot in the abdomen. They said a 16-year-old boy fired the shot but did not say what led up to the shooting, although detectives were continuing to investigate.
The teenage boy was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and possession of a handgun by a minor.
