Deputy Arrested For Allegedly Robbing Bank In Neighboring County

ROCKWELL, NC — A Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing a bank in Rowan County.

The robbery happened earlier this afternoon at the F&M Bank on West Main Street. Officials say the suspect, Jeff Athey was armed and demanded money.

Authorities say they arrested Athey nearby. No injuries were reported.

The Davidson County Sheriff says Athey has been terminated.
