Concord Police: Teen charged in shooting at Danny’s Place

CONCORD, N.C. (News Release) – The Concord Police Department arrested 17-year-old Jamere Rhashedt Wright of Kannapolis for shooting into an occupied vehicle. The incident occurred in the parking lot at Danny’s Place, a convenience store and eatery, located at 300 Church St N in Concord. Wright is the only suspect and shooter, and no one was injured during the isolated incident.

On Monday, December 8, at 12:42 p.m. the Concord Police Department responded to a report of shots fired from the parking lot at Danny’s Place. Wright was inside Danny’s Place when a vehicle with a single occupant pulled into the parking lot.

At that time, Wright stepped just outside the door and shot towards the occupied vehicle as it was attempting to park. Investigators do not believe the shooting was random. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Wright fled the scene and was apprehended by police after a brief foot chase. He is being charged as adult and is charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle that is in operation (N.C.G.S. 14-34.1 (b)).
