3 Arrested After Union County Man Was Robbed, Left In Critical Condition Following Home Invasion
WAXHAW, NC — A 73-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday night after a home invasion in Union County.
30-year-old Eddie Glenn Lowery, his mother, Patricia Kay Benton, 49, and his girlfriend, Elisha Chaney Hicks, 34, have all been charged with attacking Willie Adams at his home on Bigham Road. The three suspects hit Adams with a blunt object multiple times, according to officials, when he opened the door and robbed him of his wallet and its contents.
Investigators say Lowery and Benton lived just a few doors down from Adams, and had even visited with him prior to the attack.
Adams was found Sunday afternoon in critical condition, officials say, and taken to the hospital.
Lowery, Benton, and Hicks are all charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill/Inflicting Serious Injury, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, first degree Burglary, Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, and Larceny.
