KANNAPOLIS, NC — Police are investigating the possible assault of a 17-day-old girl who died from injuries Monday morning.
The investigation began Friday after the Department of Social Services contacted Kannapolis Police about the infant who’d been taken to CMC Northeast with injuries and then transferred to CMC-Main.
The infant died this morning as a result of those injuries. Officials say an autopsy is scheduled to determine her cause of death.
