Mayor Vi Lyles Advocates for Charlotte at President’s Infrastructure Announcement
CHARLOTTE, NC – Mayor Vi Lyles joined elected leaders from across the country at the White House today to advocate for improvements to America’s infrastructure system.
During the White House’s announcement Building A Stronger America: President Donald J. Trump’s American Infrastructure Initiative, Lyles specifically addressed some of the infrastructure challenges and opportunities facing the City of Charlotte.
“The citizens of Charlotte expect the mayor and City Council to work with the federal government to ensure that our transit system, highways, water and energy infrastructure are world class,” said Mayor Lyles. “I stand ready to work with the president and the leadership of both parties on Capitol Hill in partnership to advance infrastructure legislation that creates jobs, makes getting to work easier, improves our environment and prepares our economy for the next decade and beyond.”
Lyles will continue to work with the North Carolina delegation as the U.S. Congress considers the infrastructure plan.
“The objective of infrastructure is not just to build something, but to provide the basic framework to link people with the goods and services they require and create greater value,” said Mayor Lyles. “In Charlotte, we are doing just that, but we have so much more to accomplish. I look forward to doing my part in bringing home federal dollars to address our infrastructure needs.”
