Suspect at large after pounds of drugs seized during Alexander County drug bust

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. – Several law enforcement agencies including the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the Lenoir Police Department collaborated to conduct a four month investigation into the sale and distribution of narcotics in Taylorsville. Deputies executed three search warrants at separate locations along Willie McLeod Road in Alexander County.

Investigators seized 6.6 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.4 pounds of cocaine, 2.7 pounds of marijuana, 7 grams of fentanyl, and 5 grams of psychedelic mushrooms. U.S. currency, firearms, and illegal non-tax-paid moonshine was seized with a combined street value of $61,000.

An arrest has been made and another person is at large as a result of this investigation. Bradley Smith, 49, of Taylorsville was arrested, chargedΒ  with several counts of drug trafficking and possession. He is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a 1.5 million dollar secured bond.
