The Edge: Retailers adjusting their return policies much to dismay of shoppers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A lot of holiday shopping is done online. Many stores made online shopping easier during the pandemic by offering free shipping and free returns. But those perks are fading fast. Many major retailers are adjusting their return policies, while some are adding fees. According to the National Retail Federation, 72% of U.S. retailers now charge some kind of return fee. Macy’s, Zara, H&M, and even Amazon now charge to ship items back in many cases. It’s an important reminder to check return policies before you start shopping. Will this impact how you buy gifts this year?
