Local volunteer wrestling coach facing sex assault charges involving teen

GASTON CO., N.C. – A volunteer wrestling coach in Gaston County is in jail without bond sex assault charges. Police arrested 22-year-old Jashon Jefferies on Monday. According to an arrest warrant, he’s accused of sex crime involving a 14-year-old student at Grier Middle School. Jefferies is charged with statutory rape of a child under the age of 15, statutory sex offense with a minor and sex act with a student.

The Gaston County School District says he worked as a volunteer wrestling coach at Grier Middle School from October to December of last year.
