Join The Charlotte Independence For St. Patrick’s Day!

Charlotte, N.C. — The Charlotte Independence – Charlotte’s USL professional soccer team, is pleased to announce its opening match of the 2018 season will be a home game against Ottawa Fury FC at the Sportsplex at Matthews on Saturday, March 17th 2018: St. Patrick’s Day.

As well as being a globally celebrated holiday, St. Patrick’s Day is also traditionally one of the most important days in the Irish sporting calendar: The Finals of major national GAA Football, Hurling and Rugby competitions are held annually in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day.

According to Jim McPhilliamy, President of Charlotte Independence, “We are delighted to be hosting our season-opener on such a national and international day of celebration. We hope that, after they have enjoyed the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Uptown Charlotte, sports fans will head over to Matthews Sportsplex to cheer on the Charlotte Independence on the opening game of our 2018 season – which will be our best season yet.”

To mark the occasion, Charlotte Independence has imported a selection of Irish craft beers from O’Hara’s brewery in County Carlow, 65 miles south-west of Dublin. National-brand Irish beer will no doubt be readily available throughout Charlotte on St. Patrick’s Day, but Matthews Sportsplex is the only location in North Carolina that will be serving a selection of genuine Irish craft beers.

Single-game tickets are now available. For details on the upcoming schedule and Season Memberships visit charlotteindependence.com or call 704-206-1515.
