MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Deputies say they charged a registered sex offender for having multiple Facebook accounts.
Michael Williams, 47, of Mooresville was convicted of second degree rape in 2015 and added to the sex offender’s list.
Due to being a sex offender, Williams must register any online identifiers in his paperwork. However, he did not for his five Facebook accounts, according to a news release.
Investigators took him into custody and charged him with failure to notify online identifiers. He was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.
Williams’ criminal history includes the following charges:
Felony second degree sexual offense, three counts of misdemeanor larceny, two counts of DWI, misdemeanor first degree trespass, felony second degree rape and felony common law robbery.
