IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators say a traffic violation lead to a major heroin bust in Iredell County.
A deputy reportedly pulled over 55-year-old Danny Bye of Charleston, South Carolina, who was driving a rental vehicle registered from the state of Tennessee.
While conducting the stop, the deputy said Bye appeared very nervous and was unable to speak clearly. Bye told the deputy he was driving from Detroit, Michigan back to Charleston.
Bye gave the deputy permission to search the vehicle and investigators say they found 30.4 grams of heroin in some clothing in the front passenger seat. An additional gram of heroin was reportedly located in Bye’s wallet.
Bye was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and charged with felony trafficking heroin by transport, felony trafficking heroin by possession and felony maintaining a vehicle for selling a controlled substance.
Bye was given a $2M bond.
