CMS: Snow and ice removal continues at school properties across the district

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Snow and ice removal operations at schools throughout Charlotte continues, according to officials at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The district says their operations, maintenance, and custodial teams are actively engaged in phased snow and ice removal efforts following winter weather over the weekend.

Officials say their first priority is ensuring safe access to school buildings, with a focus on entrances, ADA‑accessible routes, bus areas, and main walkways.

Snow removal is being carried out in a phased approach, beginning with bus lots and critical access areas, followed by parking lots and pedestrian routes, according to a spokesperson.

The removal process may take several days due to the size of the district and weather conditions, according to CMS.

Officials say crews will continue working until all priority areas are cleared and safe.
