Newton Police: Armed and dangerous suspect accidentally released from the hospital

NEWTON, N.C. – After a man was shot in the leg by police in Newton Monday morning, officers say they’re looking for him once again.

Police tracked down 18-year-old Ahmon Henderson at an apartment complex on Sandalwood Court after someone called 911 claiming he had a gun. They found him hiding behind a shed nearby, when they say he charged at them. One of the officers opened fire, hitting Henderson in the leg. He was taken to the hospital.

Newton Police say he was released from the hospital without their knowledge and is on the run once again. He is wanted on multiple warrants, including assault on a female and domestic violence.
