YORK COUNTY, SC — The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg confirmed Tuesday that a weak tornado did touch down between Clover and Lake Wylie during Sunday’s severe thunderstorms.
Officials say the EF0 tornado touched down just before 3pm along Mountainview Road with winds around 85mph, and moved very quickly in a northeastern direction across SC Highway 55 and into the Timberlake subdivision. Officials say it was on the ground for roughly two minutes before disappearing near Kerrydale Court.
While on the ground, officials say the tornado damaged roofs, siding, and windows on several homes in the subdivision. Several hardwood trees were also uprooted, as well as limbs being broken off of a number of other trees in the area.
