Police searching for bank robbery suspect in Albemarle

Police are searching for a suspect wanted for robbing a bank in Albemarle, according to the Albemarle Police Department.

Around 3:15 p.m., police were called to the First Citizens Bank off North 1st Street.

Police said the suspect, who claimed to have a weapon, demanded money. The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man accused of robbing the bank was wearing a dark sweatshirt, jeans, and a construction vest.
