Community tips lead to drug and firearms bust in Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C. – Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives and ACE Team Deputies conducted a search leading to an arrest and seizure. Deputies executed a warranted search of the suspect’s residence located at 168 Marlow Woods in Statesville on Saturday, February 7th.

During the search, investigators seized 24 grams of cocaine, 129 gram of mushrooms, 98.46 grams of marijuana and large amounts of U.S. currency and packing materials associated with drug trafficking. Deputies also recovered multiple firearms, rounds of ammunition, and body armor.

The suspect, Erik Brian Luhrs, is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearm and ammunition. He was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Luhrs has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
  • Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell/Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance
  • Felony Manufacturing Marijuana and Mushrooms
  • Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substance
  • Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
