Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Drug Arrests In Iredell County

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say a traffic stop led them to finding drugs and a stolen gun in Iredell County.

A deputy reportedly stopped a vehicle on April 13th on Wilkesboro Highway at the intersection of Bowles Farm Road.

The vehicle was searched and deputies say they found 16 grams of meth, hydrocodone pills, buprenorphine pills, hypodermic needles and a pipe used to smoke meth.

Two handguns were also found in the trunk of the car, according to a news release.  Deputies say one of the guns was reported stolen out of Pennsylvania.

David Karis, Jr. and Kenneth Welborn were both arrested.

Karis was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance (meth), felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (meth) and possession of schedule III controlled substance.  He was given a $7,500 bond.

Welborn was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and was given a $3,500 bond.
