Jay Feely Apologizes For Gun In Daughter’s Prom Pic
A former NFL player is apologizing for pulling a gun on his daughter’s prom date. Jay Feely says he was obviously joking when posed with a pistol, his daughter and her date.
Feely tweeted the pic Saturday, with the caption: “Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom. #BadBoys.”
The overprotective dad with a gun joke isn’t new, and Feely’s hashtag clearly referred to a scene from the movie Bad Boys 2, which came out 15 years ago. In the movie, the main characters threaten a boy before he takes one of their daughters on a date.
While many people thought Feely’s tweet was simply poking fun at this common trope, others say guns are no laughing matter.
So Feely tweeted again on Sunday: “My daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking. I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue.”
So what do you think? Was Feely’s photo funny or frightening?
