Police respond to fake stabbing call at a Troutman elementary school

TROUTMAN, N.C. – Police responded to an elementary school in Troutman Friday after someone called 911, claiming they had stabbed someone inside the school, according to the Troutman Police Department.

Just before 7 a.m., officers responded to Troutman Elementary School off South Main Street in regards to the incident. Police said the caller claimed they stabbed someone and were hiding in an upstairs bathroom.

Police and the School Resource Officer responded to the area described and didn’t find anyone injured or an armed subject. Only staff members were at the school at the time and that no students were in the building, according to police.

School buses were held until officers searched the school and confirmed there was no evidence of a threat.

The incident was deemed a hoax. Police are investigating to identify those responsible.
