One Arrested After Three Kidnapped, One Shot Near Hickory
CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A man is in jail charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after three people were abducted from a Hickory business and one of them was shot.
Police say on Friday, Brendan Withers, 25, of Hildebran, kidnapped three people and drove them to the 5200 block of Cannon Drive in the Sawmills community in southern Caldwell County before shooting one of them several times.
The names of the victims have not been released but the person is expected to be okay.
Police say Brendan Withers evaded police but investigators learned he was going to a hospital for treatment and alerted other law enforcement agencies in the area.
Withers showed up to Grace Hospital in Morganton Saturday morning, where he was arrested by Burke County officers, who transported him to Caldwell County, where he is in jail.
Withers received a $250,000 bond for the kidnapping charges and a $150,000 bond for the attempted murder charge.
