A beautiful start to the weekend
Tracking our next weather maker
After a messy morning commute yesterday, we are back to sunshine to start off our Friday! Highs today will be right where they should be this time of year. Temperatures will peak in the mid 60s for the Piedmont, and mid 50s in the High Country. It’ll also be a breezy afternoon with wind gusts approaching 30 mph for many of us. Winds die down tonight with lows in the 40s for most outside the High Country.
Tomorrow looks terrific for the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day parade. Sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s is about as good as it gets and that’s exactly what the forecast is calling for! Make sure to get outside today or tomorrow and enjoy those early spring activities. By Sunday, signs of change will once again work into the region as another strong cold front approaches from the west.
Sunday could feature scattered showers or storms, but the real active weather looks to arrive on Monday. The exact timing will be ironed out over the weekend, but a powerful cold front looks to cross the area on Monday. This looks to have a good shot of producing strong winds, a major temperature drop, and even the potential for strong to severe storms. It’s too soon for specifics on the severe weather potential, but we will keep you weather wise as the data comes together.
What I am confident in is a major temperature drop behind this system. A hard freeze looks to return by St. Patrick’s Day morning. Afternoon highs also look to be below average, only reaching the 40s and 50s in the Piedmont. Make sure to enjoy the next 48 hours before things go downhill early next week, and stay with the WCCB weather team for the latest!
