Man charged for allegedly hitting child at school bus stop
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly passing a stopped school bus and hitting a child, according to a CMPD incident report.
The incident happened Thursday on McCullough Drive near Ikea Boulevard in northeast Charlotte.
Police said the suspect, 33-year-old Adarias Oliver, failed to stop for a stopped school bus and struck a seven-year-old boy walking towards the bus.
“Under no circumstances, should you ever pass a stopped school bus,” Major Brad Koch said.
The child was transported to the hospital for minor injuries, according to the incident report.
Police said Oliver fled the scene but returned a few minutes later where he was arrested. He has been charged with felony hit and run with injury, passing a stopped bus striking a person, reckless driving, and driving while license revoked.
