The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner says Kenneth Nash died Tuesday at CMC after being hit by a dump truck in an apparent Gaston County road rage incident on May 4th.

Nash, the driver of the SUV, was hospitalized following the incident. Officials say he got out of his SUV with a gun during a road rage incident involving a dump truck.

The driver of the dump truck did not get out, but used the truck to hit Nash when he got out with the weapon.

After reviewing the evidence in the case, investigators with the Mount Holly Police Department and Gaston County DA’s Office say they will not pursue charges in this case.

MOUNT HOLLY, NC — Police are investigating after the driver of a dump truck reportedly hit a man holding a gun during an apparent road rage incident.

The incident happened around 11:30am on Mountain Island Highway near Hartis Way. Police say they found the driver of an SUV lying in the road when they arrived. He was taken to CMC with serious injuries.

According to witnesses, the SUV and a dump truck stopped in the middle of the road during a possible dispute. After a few moments, the driver of the SUV reportedly got out and pulled a gun.

That’s when witnesses say the driver of the dump truck moved forward and hit the man and the SUV.

Police say the driver of the dump truck was not injured, and a gun was collected at the scene. Investigators say information is being sent to the Gaston County DA to determine what, if any, charges will be filed.

The investigation is ongoing.
