The Charlotte Salute to Heroes Foundation gears up to kick off two weekends of sports

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte is gearing up to honor its hometown heroes on the field and on the ice. The Charlotte Salute to Heroes Foundation is hosting two weekends of sports dedicated to first responders and fallen heroes across the Carolinas.

It all kicks off with the Heroes Lacrosse Bowl on March 28, featuring 14 high school teams and a special matchup between Charlotte firefighters and Police.

Then on April 4, first responders hit the ice at Bojangles Coliseum for the First Responder Annual Charity Hockey game.

Rob Griffin with the Charlotte Fire Department says, “It’s the excitement of the game. It’s the energy from the crowd that keeps people coming back year after year. With it growing, it helps contribute to our public safety families that are in need. And that’s our underlying goal here.”

Both events aim to raise awareness and give back to those who risk their lives to protect our communities.
