Panthers, Samaritan’s Feet hand out brand new sneakers to local kids
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers partnered with Samaritan’s Feet on Friday to give out shoes to kids at David Cox Elementary School in northeast Charlotte.
Organizers say every student got a new pair of sneakers at the event. They hope the effort encourages students to build healthy habits and stay active for at least one-hour every day.
Panthers running back Jonathan Brooks says it’s a cause he’s passionate about. Brooks says, “Any type of way that you can give back to the community is always a good opportunity. As a kid, to get free shoes, to get an opportunity to meet NFL players, it’s always a great opportunity and it’s pretty awesome.
The sneakers given out were part of a donation made by the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation.
