CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man has been charged with First Degree Murder after driving to the police station and telling authorities he killed his girlfriend.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says at about 1:40 a.m., Michael Duane Brown, 31, drove to the CMPD’s Steele Creek Division and told an officer that he had just killed his girlfriend, 27-year-old Whitney Jo King.
Officers went to the location of the homicide and found King inside an apartment, dead from gunshot wounds. There was also an infant in the home who was unharmed.
