Bicyclist hit, killed near Lake Wylie

YORK, S.C. – A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car near Lake Wylie on Tuesday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on SC Highway 274 near Ross Brook Trace.

Troopers say a 2019 Jeep Cherokee and a bicyclist, 39-year-old Thomas Linder, were traveling north on SC 274. The Jeep hit Linder from behind, causing him to spill onto the roadway, according to the highway patrol.

Linder was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway patrol is still investigating Linder’s death. Pathology and toxicology results are still pending.
