2 injured after home explodes in Catawba County

CLAREMONT, N.C. – Two people were injured after a reported home explosion and fire in Catawba County, according to the sheriff’s office.

It happened Wednesday morning on Shook Road in Claremont, North Carolina. When first responders arrived, they found a home on fire and significantly damaged.

A couple were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Their 14-year-old daughter escaped the fire, the NCSBI said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
