Three Shot Overnight, One With Life Threatening Injuries Following Event In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting in east Charlotte.

On Sunday, May 13, 2018 at about 1:53 a.m., officers responded to the SMS Catering Service located at 1764 Norland Road.

Police say the business  was rented out to a promoter holding a party inside the building and a shooting occurred outside of the building in the street and in neighboring parking lots, as the event was ending and people were leaving the building.

Three people were shot including one woman and two men.  The woman and one of the male victims were taken to Presbyterian hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The other male victim is being treated at CMC-Main for life threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing, active investigation and further information will be released as it develops.
