CMPD investigating after missing persons report is filed, then body is found inside house

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A death investigation is underway in northeast Charlotte. CMPD says around noon Wednesday they found a body inside a house on The Plaza. Police say that person’s family reported them missing late Tuesday night.

CMPD Major Brad Koch says, “Overnight, officers came out, searched the residence at that time, did not locate the individual missing persons. Detectives came out about noon (Wednesday) in the daylight and did locate an individual inside, who we believe is a resident here.”

Officers are not yet calling the death a homicide, but say that could change as their investigation continues.
