2 NC farms donate 250,000 eggs to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A big donation for families in need ahead of the Easter and Passover holidays. On Thursday, more than 250,000 eggs were delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. That donation was made by Simpson’s Eggs of Monroe, NC and Braswell Family Farms of Nashville, NC.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina CEO Kay Carter says, “We are so excited today to be part of the Great American Egg Drive. One of the things that we really do stress at the food bank is trying to make our food offerings as nutritional as possible, and eggs are about perfect with that.”

The donation is part of the nationwide Great American Egg Drive, which delivers nearly ten million eggs to food banks this spring. Organizers say Thursday’s donation will help provide high-demand protein to hungry families across the Carolinas.
