Teen wanted after gas station shooting in Kings Mountain

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. – Police are looking for a teenager wanted in connection to a shooting at a gas station in Kings Mountain.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Friday at the Silver Express gas station off East King Street near York Road. Police said it started after 19-year-old Ahmad Leggett and the victim got into a verbal altercation at a Little Caesars nearby. During the incident, Leggett allegedly displayed a firearm but the situation was briefly de-escalated by bystanders.

Following that altercation, Leggett went to the Silver Express gas station across the street and fired multiple rounds toward the victim, according to police. The area was heavily crowded at the time, but police said no injuries were reported.

Leggett is wanted on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, discharge firearm into occupied property, and going armed to the terror of the public.
