What the Tech: FBI issues warning about popular apps

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The FBI is warning Americans to delete certain apps from their phones.

Apps owned by Chinese companies, including popular platforms like Temu, CapCut, and Shein are, according to the FBI, capturing personal information and user data.

The most alarming part of the warning: these apps may be able to access information from people who don’t even have them downloaded.

Consumer technology reporter Jamey Tucker explains and shares what users should consider doing.
