Cabarrus County roads to receive upgrade

CABARRUS CO., N.C. – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.8 million contract to improve more than nine miles of roads in Cabarrus County.

Albemarle contractor NJR Group Inc. will deliver the project that includes milling, patching, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, pavement markings and rumble strips.

The following roads are included in the contract:

  • U.S. 29 between Interstate 85 and Sumner Street
  • N.C. 73 from the Mecklenburg County line to the Odell Volunteer Fire Department, (just prior to Odell School Road), and from Westgate Circle to Mistletoe Ridge Place NW
  • Brantley Road between Lane Street and Old Salisbury – Concord Road
  • La Forest Lane from N.C. 73 to Untz Road
  • Trinity Church Road between the entrance to Rowan-Cabarrus Community College toward Orphanage Road

Crews can begin working later this month and complete the contract in the fall of 2027.

Any necessary lane closures on U.S. 29, N.C. 73 and Trinity Church Road will be restricted to off – peak hours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Restrictions will also be in place for holidays and holiday weekends.
