Unhoused man charged with setting his uncle’s front porch on fire

LINCOLN CO., N.C. – An unhoused Lincoln County man is charged with lighting his uncle’s front porch on fire.

Officials say Jeffery Prater started the fire on Red Oak Lane in Iron Station on March 20th. A warrant was issued for Prater’s arrest, but the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said they weren’t able to find him, until now. Prater was arrested Monday and is being held without bond.

He is charged with first-degree arson.
