Campers Fill Campgrounds At Charlotte Motor Speedway As NASCAR Fans Kickoff Race Weekend

CHARLOTTE, NC — Thousands of NASCAR fans are kicking off race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and campers are already filling up the campgrounds.

One fan from DC says he’s not worried about the chance of scattered downpours every day.

“When you’re camping here at the race track we’ll be here till they get the race in,” says DC resident Dana Salkeld. “Come back and get in the coach if it’s raining, wait for them to start the track.”

Race weekend officially starts Friday, beginning with qualifying for the All-Star Race.
