Officials say more charges have been filed against a former middle school teacher for sexually assaulting children. Daniel Stanford, 35, was arrested in May for taking indecent liberties with a former student.
New charges involve allegations of inappropriate behavior with two additional students. Stanford now faces twelve more charges, in addition to the 16 charges filed last month. The new charges include four counts of indecent liberties with a student, four counts of indecent liberties with a child and four counts of simple assault.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about this matter to contact officials immediately.

MONROE, N.C. — A former Union County teacher has been arrested for taking indecent liberties with a child.
Daniel Wade Stanford, 35, has been charged with four counts of Indecent Liberties, four counts of Indecent Liberties with a Student, four counts of Statutory Sex Offense and four counts of Crimes Against Nature.
Detectives began investigating earlier this month after a former student came forward alleging inappropriate contact. Stanford resigned as a teacher at Parkwood Middle School earlier this week.
The incidents are alleged to have happened in 2014 and 2015 and investigators believe many of the offenses occurred on the school premises.
The investigation remains open and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
