MIDLAND, NC — A suspect is dead after officials say he crashed his vehicle into a tree while running from authorities.
Officials say CMPD and the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a joint investigation around 1:45pm when the suspect ran out of the home and took off in a vehicle.
The suspect managed to lose officers after speeding away, but crashed into a tree a short time later near the intersection of Flowes Store Road and Sam Black Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say they discovered a trafficking amount of cocaine while searching the vehicle.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
