Vote expected Monday in proposed merger between Atrium Health and WakeMed

WAKE CO., N.C. – The Wake County Board of Commissioners is set to vote Monday on a key step toward a major health care partnership between Atrium Health and WakeMed. The proposed deal includes a $2 billion investment to expand care statewide.

If approved, the merger would add new hospitals, create more than 3,300 jobs, and launch North Carolina’s largest nonprofit mental health network. It would also boost access to virtual care for millions of people.
