Charlotte Fire Crews Standing By To Assist Counties Heavily Impacted By Floods, Mudslides

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte Fire Department is on standby to help with rescue and clean up efforts in McDowell County after recent flooding and mudslides.

28 swift-water rescue team members were deployed Wednesday morning after a landslide near the Lake Tahoma Dam prompted mandatory evacuations.

Thousands of residents returned home after the evacuation order was lifted, but the dangerous flooding continues.

Charlotte Fire crews are trained to use boats and even a helicopter to rescue people.
