Man Arrested In Charlotte For Murder That Happened In Rock Hill

Officials say Charles Ridings, 22, of Denton, North Carolina has been arrested for the murder of 45-year-old Scottie Starnes.

Starnes was found dead in his home on Old Friendship Road in York County on June 2nd.  Police say Ridings stole Starnes’ vehicle.  The vehicle was later located in Charlotte and Ridings was arrested.  Police say he confessed to the murder.

Ridings is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail until an extradition hearing can take place.  He has been charged with armed robbery, grand larceny and murder.

ROCK HILL, SC — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead late Monday afternoon.

The York County Coroner’s Office says 45-year-old Scottie Starnes was found dead in his home on Old Friendship Road. Family members reportedly found Starnes unresponsive and contacted authorities.

Officials say his death has been ruled a homicide, but autopsy and toxicology results are still pending. This is the fourth homicide of 2018 in York County.
